subtalar joint coalition

I was diagnosed yesterday, by a podiatrist, with subtalar joint coalition. He was rushed and impatient. I need some more information. I have suffered with plantar faciitis, both feet, since 1993. It is pretty well under control with orthodics, with occasional flare-ups in the right foot. In the last six months, I have been experiencing heel pain, a burning, at the back of the heel, along with a tingling and warmth in my right foot, causing difficulty sleeping. My ankle and lower leg are definitely swollen, with pain to touch on the inside of my foot, I assume where the subtalar joint is located. People for years have told me I walk with a limp, but I have never been aware of it. My doctor said that is because of the SJC, which is congenital, and showed up quite obviously in an X-ray. The X-ray made me aware, also, of how flat the arch of my right foot is. He said I also have Achilles tendonitis. Are all these problems a direct result of the SJC simmering for years, and finally now causing me pain? Should I restrict activities?…
I do some sports…will anti-inflammatories keep it at bay?
Thank you.
