subtalar joint coalition

I was diagnosed with subtalar joint coalition yesterday. The doctor was an impatient person…didn’t answer all my questions. I have suffered with recurring plantar facciitis, both feet, since 1993, now have occasional numbness in right foot, achilles tendonitis, heel pain (burning), enlarged right ankle and lower leg…is this all connected and a result of the congenital problem of subtalar joint coalition? Will certains actions on my part make it worse? Should I have surgery?
