Swollen ankle after cast removal

Hi, I fractured my fibula about 5 weeks ago during netball training. I was in a backslab for 2 weeks and followed by full cast. The cast was removed a few days ago but my foot remained swollen. There is a huge patch of red-purple bruise and a scab around my ankle. There is also a tingling sensation in my soles when I tried putting weight on that injured foot. Is that normal? What can I do to make the swelling goes down and the bruises and scab disappear? I have tried heat by soaking it in warm water and even using a hair dryer. When can I return to netball? The doc says no running for the next two months! What can I do in the meantime before my first appointment with the physiotherapist, to reduce the stiffness in my ankle? When can I walk and even climb stairs without crutches? I need help! Thanks!!!

I fractured my fibula in august.the swelling is normal bt I didn’t hav any bruising.however I was in a cast 4 over 6 weeks.Dont worry the swelling will go down eventually,u just hav 2 wait. I cud walk wivout major pain after about a week,bt I cudnt run properly 4 about 6 weeks. I play football, and cudnt play again until about 11/12 weeks after comin out of the cast,as netball isnt so physical,it prob wont b as long 4 u.the physio will giv u exercises 2 do which will help u alot, and if I were u id try and do alot of swimming.its bin over 5 months since I broke my fibula, and I only just feel fully recoverd. So don’t hope 4 to much 2 soon,if u do 2 much at first then ull just make ur recovery time longer.Trust me I no!!good luck xx
