Swollen Left Foot, Toes Swollen & Numb

I’m having a problem with my left foot since yesterday, I first woke up thinking that a charlie horse was starting from my toes and going up my leg.
I got up to walk around on it and now having problems walking because both my ankle and toes are swollen.
My husband thought I was retaining water because it hurt to put socks on and the foot feels like it’s swelling when I had my shoes on.
I haven’t had any injury so I was wondering what could be the cause?
