Swollen Quadricep

Hello, I have suffered a strange knee injury due to over exerting myself. My knee had swollen back at the end of May and I was on crutches for 2 weeks unable to walk, I tried to do some walking during that time and ended up at the hospital and was told I had Inflammatory Synuvitis (above the knee). This has since been relieved with ani-inflammatories (Voltaran)and much rest. But recently I felt better and started to walk a little again and now after seeing a doctor again I am told my Quadricep is swollen, it is mostly above my left knee to the left side and down the side of my leg and also below the knee. The pain was really bad and now it seems like its tensing up around the knee I can still fully move it. I am not sure what I should be doing to take care of this, I have already missed alot of work and really want to get back to normal walking. Should I be wearing a knee brace or leg skin, putting ice?

How interesting. I have almost identical symptoms involving my right leg, and no particular injury I can remember. What is it, and how have you dealt with it?
