Take 2 aspirin & call me in the a.m.

An orthopedic surgeon diagnosed bone spurs in my ankle as the result of an athletic injury. I was told there was no other treatment other than aspirin for the pain. That was 25 years ago.
The pain has never completely gone away and is aggravated more & more by physical activities.
In addition, the outer side of the heel wears out on the sole my shoe.
Could this injury eventually affect my knee or hip?
Is their any advances in treatment for this condition?
Thank-you very much for this wonderful forum.

I would recommend you see a podiatrist or orthopedist who treats feet and ankles. I would suggest an x-ray and possibly MRI. I would hope someone can give you more useful advice. Whether a surgery could help or a brace (such as a Richie type AFO) needs to be evaluated. Good luck.
