Taping shin splints
(2 discussions)
I have very bad shin splints, I ice every day before soccer practice and take advil, and stretch before soccer practice and the pain is so bad that I have to stop running.
I have read that you can tape the calf and there are braces for this too.
I would like to know how you would tape the calf before trying the $20.00+ braces out there.
How would you tape this?
Thanks

You did not indicate your age, but I would highly recommend you see your doctor. Shin splints can cover a wide variety of diagnoses. This could include the tendonitis you speak of or even a stress fracture. Without knowing the answer, I can't really recommend a splint. Good luck. Vivian A DPM

: I have very bad shin splints for the last 6 weeks. I have been icing everyday but it does not appear to be working. I ice as soon as we are done working out wether it is running, lifting weights, or playing soccer. I had shin splints in high school and icing helped then but not now. I need to know if there is a good way to tape to help. Thanks
