Tarsal-Metatarsal joint instability

Hi. I have recently been diagnosed as having Lis-franc instability (first Tarsal-Metatarsal joint) but the injury was sustained over a year ago. I am concerned that almost ALL my syptoms are in my big toe (none are from the area of that joint). Does this suggest that the diagnosis is wrong or do the symptems normally show up in a diffrerent place to the injury.

Secondly what can I do to improve / make the most of my foot. The specialist doesn’t seem to think that the problem is curable (fusion surgery or orthotics are the options he gave me) but he admitted that it is a rare problem for a 34 year old.

Can anyone help please?

PS – I used to do Capoeira and lots of walking.
