the best braces/post rotator cuff(complete thickness tear)&winging scapula

(2 discussions)

I will be having rotator cuff(big complete thickness tear)surgery on 4/18 and I am concerned about using my arm too much, too soon, etc.and re-injuring myself. Can you tell me if there is one, what might be the best brace to wear to protect my shoulder and to support it following surgery? When I go back to work,my job involves lifting and restraining clients up to 250 pounds! Help please. Also during therapy(prior to finding out that I had a tear)my therapist told me that my scapula was really “winging”out! Could this be the cause of my upper back, shoulder pain? We thought that the rotator cuff injury was the reason. Is there a best brace(or any)to use to support this scapula,to keep it from winging so much,to provide protection? Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks,Jim

I had surgery for Rotator Cuff tear on my right shoulder on 6/19. I was told that it was almost a full tear, and also the doctor shaved off a half inch on my clavicle bone and some out of my AC joint. I have had quite a few complications since the surgery including having to be put under again and the doctor manipulating my shoulder again and I still have quite a bit of pain and the joint won’t glige very good like it is supposed to. I have been going to Therepy since a week after the surgery and I think maybe it is taking longer than it is supposed to get back my full range of motion, plus I can’t even lift my arm out from my side without the help from my other arm. Is it possible that something is still wrong in my shoulder since I don’t seem to be making much progress in getting back my range of motion and strength in my right arm and shoulder. I am getting worried because I do work in the Construction Field doing some heavy lifting and a lot of stress being put on my arms. Could this kind of work very possibly re-injure me. Plus the fact that I haven’t even come out of this Surgery yet back to normal. I am like I say getting very worried about what the future has for me from all this.

I have symmetrical paralysis of my rhumboid muscles (?polio as an infant to be the cause)
Over the years my scapulae have elevated and is very winged, with the tip of my shoulder blade very high and close to my neck. I am looking for a brace to stabilize both shoulders.
