therapy after a broken foot for a 57 year old

(2 discussions)

I have been healing a broken in my foot for 9 weeks, am 57 years old, have never been able to see an actual Doctor (only saw a P.A.), and have been told to continue wearing the camwalker until physical therapist tells me otherwise. I am concerned about the lack of wisdom in the PA’s RX…my ankle is swolen all day and even my toes are swolen/broke the bone that extends to the little toe about in the middle of my foot… What else should I be doing??? I am wearing some wierd shoe with a flat sole – told to do so for 15-20 minutes inside to transition out of the boot……….

Aren’t you getting advice from your PT???? That is the person you should be talking to about these issues.

I agree with M Scott. PT’s are experts in the mechanics of the body, not PA’s, or for that matter, physicians. They have their own specialties that we don’t have. Word of advice, be sure you have the PT monitor for over reaction of the sympathetic nervous system over reacting. This can cause a whole other problem.
