thigh muscle

(3 discussions)

I think I’ve injured my thigh muscle and I don’t know what to do for it.
I work out 2 to 3 days a week…karate..for the past 10 years. For about the last 2 weeks or so my left thigh muscle hurts.
It’s ok if I’m not moving.
When I go from sitting to standing or when I’m walking (let back pushing off) I have pain up high close to my hip. Also when I go to sit on the floor.
If I do a lot of walking then rest.. When I get up I have a slight limp until I’m warmed up.
What can I do to relieve some of the pain? Thank You.

the first thing you need to do is rest and ice it for about 3 days ice on and off every 2-3 hours! then if it has settled down slowy start stretching it, but make sure the thighs are warmed up first before you stretch, get them sweating but don’t use hot baths or hot water bottles to warm them!

How would you incorporate massage therapy in the injury to the quad muscle.

10 days ago, while running to first base in a softball game, I pulled my left(quadicep)thigh, a couple of innings later I pulled the right. I am 60 years old, and this was the first time I had played in years. I do work out regularly. Both thighs continue to hurt, about 5-6 inches above my knee. Sometimes bith quads are still sensitive to touch. The pain is worse at night while lying in bed. What could I have done to the muscle, and what can I do to bet it better? Thank you.
