(4 discussions)

I’ve been experiencing this chest popping or cracking for a few years now and no one can figure out what it it. One doctor called is costochondritis basically inflamed and sore chest. I was like thanks I could have told you that. I developed it around 28. I also sit at a computer a lot. I do notice that since I haven’t been going to the gym on a regular basis, that I have been getting worse. I also notice that when I lay on my side, the pressure gets worse. I’m so glad that you all replied and that I have fellow chest cracking partners. I used to work out my back and do a lot of weights to correct some other issues and I think that helped. Maybe my back muscles are too weak now to suppoort my frame?? Anyway, maybe I said something to help someone…good luck everyone..God bless

I was diagnosed in April and have suffered since that itme. I have been to several doctors, emergency room and hospital. I was sent to physical therapy in June for massage therapy. This has saved my life and sanity. I also wear a Liboderm pain patch 12 hour each day. These later two treatments have help me reduce my pain lever from 10 down to 3, and dropping. this is the worst continous paon I have ever experienced

My husband has been recently diagnosed with costocondritis. He has been in severe pain too. The only advise I can suggest is See a local doctor. If your pain is that severe you should be given narcotics to help control it. Also, if the Toradol shot worked for you – it is available in pill form by prescription. So this may be a good option. In looking on the internet there have been suggestions for relaxation techniques citing stress as a cause for this condition. It may be beneficial to try a chiropactor or go to your local spa for theraputic massages routinely. It might help. Anything is worth a try. Hope this helps. I know your reguest is old but I thought I’d reply just in case.

I was diagnosed with this disease about two weeks ago. I did go to ER to rule out any heart problems and after two hours of testing and a shot of torodal (sp?) I was sent home. About a week later it has returned. I have been taking 2400 miligrams of Motrin daily, using a heating pad, rest, as well as use of a hot tub. I am absolutely miserable and absolutely cannot sleep or breath. I am 50 years old and work as a bookeeper for a roofing company, which of course is not very strenous. I need additional help, this is the most horrible pain I have ever experienced. I would appreciate any suggestions. The condition makes everyday activities very difficult. Thanks
