Toe nail torn off when toe was stubbed
I stubbed my toe and the nail lifted completely from the bed, The nail root is the only thing left intact.
I flushed it with peroxide, forced some Neosporin under the nail, and applied a large Band-Aid fairly snug to press the nail onto the bed. What else can be done? Also, must I see an physician, and if so, my general Practioner or a foot doctor. This happend on the Labor Day Weekend. My MD is unavailable.
Thanks in advance for your help.Fred

The nail is history. It will not reattach. For now, keeping it covered and protected is the right thing to do. A new nail will grow and gradually push off the remaining attachment of the old nail. If the pain is still there and you are concerned, you can see a doctor. I can't say how often a family doctor treats this, but podiatrists see this frequently. Good luck.
