Torn ACL

(2 discussions)

In May, I tore my ACL over 50% and my meniscus also. I had surgery in September to repair the meniscus and they tried something my doctor said was still new. They shrank my ACL to tighten it because it was not loose enough to warrant reconstruction. What are the chances I will do further damage? Is this a good alternative? Any ideas on good exercises I could do to help prevent this from happening again? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did the procedure to tighten your ACL improve the stability of your knee? I am considering having the same thing done with mine.

: Did the procedure to tighten your ACL improve the stability of your knee? I am considering having the same thing done with mine.: I also forgot to mention I tore it over 50% and my doctor said it gives me approx. 80% of a normal ACL. He said that is the best I would get if I had the full ACL reconstruction. Hope this helps.
