Torn ligaments and scar tissue

(2 discussions)

I fell into a 2 foot deep hold a couple of years ago and suffered several partially torn ligaments and one tendon in my right foot. .
I am having quite a bit of pain still from this accident.
I was told that the pain is likely from scar tissue that developed when the ligaments grew back together.Does this sound likely? What course of treatment would help this? Is surgery an option?
Thank you.

I would recommend an MRI first and then a biomechanical evaluation. Go from there. Good luck

: Hi, In January 2014 I sprained my ankle and heard a crack as I fell. My 3 toes in the middle had a black and blue circle around the base of each. I was told it was level 2-3 sprain possible accult fracture. I was in severe pain. In March I had an MRI of the ankle which showed numerous ligament tears. I did physical therapy as best as I could for a month. The middle of my foot hurt too. It’s been 1 1/2 years and I still feel pain in the ankle and midfoot. The pain generates up the front of my leg to my knee(not severe like when I fell but always there.) My 3 toes on the left won’t bend. I wake up with leg cramps, can’t sit with my legs crossed(downward pressure is bothersome). I’ve gone to 2 orthopedists and 1 foot doctor. Neither took their own tests. Only looked at the original papers. 2 doctors said I had an old injury, 1 said it was a new chip in my midfoot. Are there any better tests to see what is going on or does this sound normal for a major sprain. I have sprained my ankle before, iced it and shortly thereafter it was healed. This is something else. Thanks, Marty
