torn medial maniscus

I have been to my primary care Dr. and he has taken the initial set of X-rays, but all that they reveal is when my knee is in the flexed position, I have a narrowing of the joint.
My PT says it is a medial tear of the maniscus, but my Dr. thinks differently.
I am scheduled to see an Ortho, but that will be a few weeks away.
I am curious on your thoughts on the matter.
I did not injury it with any activity, it just came on day by day, getting worse every day over the past month.
