I have torn miniscus in my knee and it is also flipped up and made its way into my joints. How long would I expect recovery to be and is there any kind of brace I can use?

I have type 3 miniscal tear in my knee. my dr suggested surgery. I’m getting a 2nd opinion in 2 weeks. Will the damage become worse just from walking, will waiting make it worse?
