I suffer from this condition as well but never knew what it was! When I was in High School, I went to a podiatrist for an ingrown toenail treatment. I asked him about the problem and he said “I’ll take care of it”. He basically took a long thin stick, dipped it into a dark gel pushed the growths down. It was PAINFUL — and only lasted around 6 months before the growths came back. Last year I went to a dermatologist for a plantars wart and asked him about the condition and he said he has no idea what it is. A treatment would be great, if anyone has one. The condition used to be only on my smaller toes but seems to have spread to my bigger ones. I would love to stop cutting my toes in a ‘V’ shape. It tears my socks:-)

If you will type this condition into a search engine such as Google, there will be great pictures and lots on information almost immediately.

There is not a really good answer to your question. Generally, we try not to cut this ytissue when cutting the nails.

I was also unable to locate a site Re: Treatments for Pterygium Inversum Unguis. Google did not have a matching site. Any suggestions?
