TRIPLE ARTHRODESIS

(5 discussions)

I had a total left hip replacement back in August 2013 and after MAJOR complications, I was left with RSD (CRPS) in my left hip to my toes with no use out of sny of it. I have seen several speciaists and it has been suggested that I have a TRIPLE ARTHRODESIS done in about a month. The more I read about the procedure, the more frightened I become. Has anyone out there had this done and what shuld I expect?
Please help.

I had a triple arthrodesis done when I was 25. the history in a nutshell is–. At the age of 23 I had a wreck on a motorcycle and it resulted in an open fracture-dislocation right distal tibia into the joint. other injuries were severe laceration right buttock, closed fracture- comminuted right scapular, concussion. My question is what are some of later effects of the surgery? I am now unable to work because weight baring is quite pain. I have muscle atrophy of the calf and side muscles of my leg and thigh. The peroneal motor response was not obtained. Again all said and done – I have after effects of this 25 year ago injury. would you state the overall expected deteriation of my body? I presently am told that I have a mild L3&4 stenois and mod deg.L4&5. In 1990 I had trasal tunnel release done with no change seen in pain. I am looking for a case or study that might tell of my longterm condition. I have pain in my entire foot and lower leg, discomfort in my lower back. I feel that the changed gait, adjustment in picking up and carrying weight,as well as sitting have a direct correlation to my injury in 1974. I am in an ongoing claim against the Veterans Administration for increased rating and compensation. I do feel that any material I present wil help in settling this claim

The Triple Arthodesis is a procedure of last resort. While I have not examined you and can not suggest whether you are a candidate or not, I would recommend you get another opinion. This procedure is not something you get over in a short period of time.
