Turf Toe

Yes my son dropped a blocking sled, at football practice 1 day, on his foot. He then fell on it at school 1 day.. This all was last year. Then at wrestling practice we went to the Quack in the box (Dr.s care). They said He had Turf Toe. So now it has been 7 months with really nothing going on and didn’t bother him. UNTIL football practice. It kills him to do the drills where he is down in his stance. He can run and it only bothers him. But if he curls his toes it kills him. We are doing rub downs and ice and compression. What else can I do for him? Do they make a splint? He is 6’0″ 289 size 15 shoe. He is 13 years old. Please help.

I would want to xray both his feet. His growth plates are not closed and he might have damaged one in his big toe. If nothing shows on the x-ray then a MRI is warranted. There is definitely something wrong with the foot. I recommend you see a podiatrist or orthopedist.
