Upper back – Near left shoulder blade

(2 discussions)

Hi,

Recently after doing some “Bent over One armed rows” (Bodybuilding/Weight lifting).

I seem to have got a pain between shoulder blades on the left side of back.

When i move into certain positions it seems to hurt, Also it seems to feel asif its going right through my back and also casusing pain in chest.

Im not sure what it could be, I do have some msucle soreness which is wearing off, But this still seems to be there.

All help is appreciated, If it continues after tommorow i think i shall visit the doctors.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello to both of you. It sounds very much like you are both experiencing rib pain. The ribs where they articulate with the thoracic spine can sometimes become subluxed and inflamed. A good physiotherapist will be able to manipulate the rib back into place and give you excercises to hold it in place. It is classic of rib pain to give you symptoms both posteriorly and anteriorly because this is where they articulate with the spine and sternum.

    Hope this helps!

Chris, I have the EXACT same pain in my back near my shoulder blade… I was looking on the internet to see if I could figure out what it was and i came across what you wrote. If anyone has any idea what it is or might be, I’d appreciate it if you emailed me what they said.

    Thanks either way,
    Nick
