Weird Knee Injury (High Jump)

Lately, I’ve been having a really strong pain in my knee only when I do the flop in high jump. As soon as I take off, I get a very painful feeling in my right knee (driving leg), which is in the soft area right below the kneecap. If I do a normal, straight up or forward jump, there is no pain at all. I can’t seem to re-create unless I actually jump, and there is no inflammation at all. I think it may have something to do with the turning involved when doing a high jump, but I’m not exactly sure.

So far, I’ve tried putting ice on it and I rested for two days, but the pain was still there when I jumped. Any help would be appreciated.

If a planted twisting motion is what causes pain it is quite possible you have a cruciate ligament injury. Keep icing stop jumping and see a sports med doc ASAP to get a real diagnosis of whats going on.

    Good luck,
