Will my toe nail grow back????
(4 discussions)
About 2 months ago I was doing a lot of running it was cold and wet outside.
Running in wet shoes did not keep my feet stable.
My big toe nail really started to bother me so I stopped.
Only to notice it had turned black and blue (I’m assuming from bleeding underneath).
Now it looks like I’m going to lose the toe nail.
What do I need to do to treat it, and will it grow back?

Your nail should grow back, but it will be up to a year. The new nail will push the old nail off gradually. If it is painful or bothering you, see a podiatrist.

Dear Dr. Abrams: A few days ago I did something to my big toe/toe nail and it fell off rather quickly. the surface is a fleshy red but it isnt infected. Will it grow back and if so do I need to keep the surface moist where the nail once was?
