Osgood Schlatter’s Disorder

(2 discussions)

Hi,My son, who is 12, has been diagnosed with Osgood Schlatter disorder in the left knee. He is an elite jui jitsu athlete. Grappling and sparring require that he occasionally drop to one knee. Would a knee guard help? If so, what type should I get? Would physio help? In general, what can be done to reduce the swelling? Is this problem related to rapid growth? He has grown an inch a month recently and he weighs 110lb.Thanks,Catherine
