My foot pain

I am a 24 year old female. When I was about 9 yrs old a horse stepped on my right foot. I had no trouble walking on it afterwards. So I was never taken for it to be checked out. Just this past week I started getting moderate pain in the same spot that was stepped on. The pain goes from the big toe to the third toe in. If I am at rest the pain dulls but as I put pressure or walk on it the pain comes back. Any ideas on what could be the cause?

lingering foot pain

Hi.
Just curious about your thoughts on a foot ailment that will not seem to go away.
My left foot, originally was casted casted because of a very minor fracture.
After removing the cast I attended therapy to strengthen inner arch and heel.
That was almost years ago and the heel continually aches after any strenuous exercise.
Occasionally, it aches when I get up in the morning.
I have iced, bandaged, lat soaked my foot.
My physicain (not speciallist) says have planther ailments and will probably need surgery. I’m 29 years old and have concerns about surgery, but also won’t ever be able to play basketball they way I used to in this condition.
I need an MRI most likely, and possibly surgery–correct?
My specialist jsut thinks I need more rest and have not gone forward with an MRI.

Torn Tendon in Ankle

(3 discussions)

Just got results of MRI stating I have torn tendons in my ankle.
Podiatrist wants me to wear a brace/cast to immobilize my ankle for 6 – 12 months to see if it helps. He says then maybe surgery.
Should I seek another opinion, maybe an orothopedist?
I don’t want to waste possibly 1 year to find out it is still a problem. Would rather have surgery to get this taken care of.
Has been going on for 3 months now.
Any suggestions

Haglund’s Bump

(2 discussions)

I am 46 and like to compete in Master’s track as a sprinter.
For the last couple of years I haven’t been able to sprint due to a worsening Achilles heal bursitis problem.
There is clearly a bump on my heal.
I am told that the problem is called Haglund’s Bump.
This problem only surfaced after I developed a significant case of Achilles Tendonitis.
My Achilles tendon is fine now, however.
I already have tried orthodics that elevate my heal.
They help a little, but I am still unable to sprint without significant aggravation to my heal.
I would be very thankful for advice – particularly regarding what, if any, ankle support product I could buy to help with this.

Removal of pin from hammer toe surgery

Four weeks ago I had foot surgery.
Three days ago the doctor removed the pin.
My question is, what is the “normal” procedure used to remove the pin?
I know that my toe hurts worse now than anytime since surgery and I’m wondering if he broke loose any healing that was already started since the surgery. How long before this part heals?

red spots & itching after long walks

I am training to walk in a marathon, and am now walking 16-20 mile distances.
After a recent 16 mile walk, my feet (most severely near the ankle but spreading over most of the foot)beagn to itch uncontrollably.
I noticed red spots on my feet when the itching began, about an hour after I finished walking.
Nothing will stop the itch- I’ve tried icing the affected ares, soaking the feet, Cortizone ointment and lotion.
The red spots and itching remain several hours after the walks.
I never had any problems during shorter walks, and my feet don’t sweat overly much.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated, since I still have a lot of walking left to do 🙂

A small lump = severe pain

(2 discussions)

On the sole of my foot, one inch up towards the heel from my little toe, 1/4 inch from the outer extremity of the foot, I have developed a lump the size of a pencil eraser of tremendous sensitivity, I have been wearing shoes on a daily basis. According to Reflexology, this indicates a problem with the axillary lymph nodes. I am a diabetic. Can you please help me with a diagnosis??? Thank you so much, Linda.

Painful, burning foot can’t sleep

(2 discussions)

Hi,
I’m a very active 39 year old and I run 20-25 miles a week as well as lift weights. I had plantar fasciitis a few years ago but I was able to overcome it. However, the past several nights, I’ve had intense pain in the bottom of my right foot which wakes me up. There is pain and numbness in the middle to outside part of my foot. I ended up going to the ER because of the pain and the doc said he thought it was PF. I know what PF feels like and previously I had it in the typical spot (medial side near the insertion point) and the usual deal, pain first few steps in the morning etc… but PF NEVER woke me up at night. I get the feeling that this is nerve related somehow?? It suddenly just came on, there was no acute injury or anything like that. I’m taking percoset for the pain and yet, it STILL wakes me up at night. I’d appreciate any input you may have (I have an appt. with a PDM soon) I’m as curious as I am frustrated to find out what this is.
