Foot and Ankle Swelling

Dr Abrams-I have had swelling in the foot and ankle for over 2 years. Last October I had knee surgery and was given the hope that the swelling would decrease.
I am currently taking 25 mg daily of HCTZ and it is not helping…seems worse than before.
What could lead to this condition?

These are some questions I would ask if you were my patient. It is most helpful to know what x-rays, MRI, Doppler results were. What was the knee surgery for? Why were expecting the swelling to decrease?What was the cause of the swelling initially?Do you wear compression hose?

My right foot has been swelling lately and also a numbness in the heel area. I am not a diabetic and I stay away from sault. So What can it be? thanks, CJ

It is impossible to even guess at the cause without an examination and evaluation. I recommend you see a doctor.
