results of nerve test on ruptured achilles…help
ruptured achilles going on 2 years.(right) tendon is real thick since surgery, calf is inch and a half smaller than left. had nerve test done just recently, results were. found no sureal nerve response, doctor has ignored nerve test, getting second opinion, would like your opinion also. thanks dr. you have been a great help to me in the past and that is the reason for me getting nerve test. scared to rehab, rehab specialist also a little apprehensive about working me back to normal.

The Sural nerve is a sensory nerve on the lateral side of the lower leg and foot. It can get trapped up in scar tissue. But that does not sound like why you have atrophy (shrinkage) of the calf muscle. That usually comes from disuse. It is common after an Achilles tendon injury. Have you had a recent MRI to see if the area has healed? Thickness is often noted permanently after a repair of a tendon. You should gather as much information as you can so you are as informed as possible as to what the prognosis is. Good luck.
