Adult Toe Walker

(2 discussions)

My husband is 30 years old and has walked on his toes his entire life, to the point that he has NO callousing of his heels since they have never touched the ground.
His feet are extremely wide at the base of the metatarsals — I’m afraid that his feet are spreading and collapsing.
He has had ankle, knee, and back problems which are most likely due to his gait.
And, my God, his gastrocs are huge!
He’s a poor patient — dislikes doctors, impossible to get him to stretch on a regular basis — but I would like to know what kind of prognosis he might have and also what interventions might be possible.
Should we be concerned about future plantar fasciitis?
He just recently said that all his shoes now hurt his feet, so he might be ready to try something new.
Thanks for any input.

Numbness in big toe, like it fell asleep

(2 discussions)

For one week now, my right big toe feels numb, like it has fallen asleep.
I have not banged my toe at all in recent weeks.
What could be causing this?
The only other thing is that same foot starts to tingle in my arch if I stand on it for a long period of time.
thankyou for taking the time to give advice.

thumping in abdomin

I just posted a previous message and forgot to add that I am also having a thumping in my abdomin around my bladder area.
It is not painful even if I press on it.
It is almost like the feeling of feeling a fetus move inside the uterus but I know I am not pregnant. Could this also have anything to do with a misaligned spine or stressed muscles around the spine.

Avascular Necrosis of sesamoid bone

I was diagnosed with a fractured sesamoid about two months ago. I just got back from the Podiatrist’s office to check on my progress after being on crutches and in a walking cast. He told me that he believes it may be healing but shows signs of Avascular Necrosis (X-ray showed that the bone is somewhat cloudy, but darker than before and not white like my other sesamoid). There is much less pain than 6 weeks ago and more mobility of my big toe. He wants me to wait another six weeks and see if the bone “rebounds” and to check on the pain. What is the likelyhood of a sesamoid rebounding from Avascular Necrosis? Is it OK for me to begin wearing tennis shoes ocasionally and doing some activities such as an eliptical machine that has no impact or even golf if I’m careful? I’m starting to gain weight because of my lack of excercise but don’t want to hurt my chances of the sesamoid rebounding if it’s possible. Please let me know what you think. Thanks very much, Brandon
