big toe pain/possible nail loss after race
(2 discussions)
I recently walked a half-marathon, and apparently my shoes were too small. My big toes are purple and extremely sore. I expect to lose at least one toenail. The pain is getting worse instead of better. (It has been four days since the race.) Should I be doing anything to treat them? I’ve been wearing sandals because it is too painful to put on any other shoes. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.

If there is a good deal of blood under the nail, it should be evacuated. I am not a fan of people doing this themselves. I recommend you see a podiatrist ASAP

also, it is much more often on my right foot than my left, though I do occasionally get one on my left foot.
