Patellar tendonitis

I have patellar tendonitis on my right knee. It doesn’t hurt when I run, only after getting up froma sitting position after my knee has been bent for a long while.
I took 6 weeks off and started slowly with1 mile a day.
I stopped again last week because I feltmy knee was not getting better.
I’m now going to the gym and working out calves, hamstrings, abs, quads, andupper body (and back extensions).
How long should I stay away from running? Any advice on what else to do?Also, I saw your ads for the Chopat and the other kneebraces.
I’m interested in buying one but I wonder if it won’t simply mask discomfort while I damage my knee?

Try stretching your hamstrings, quads and calves. Do limited range, 90 to 45 knee extensions with light weight and high reps (25 to 30). Ice after you run. Hope this helps.
