Re: CALCANEAL FRACTURE

(2 discussions)

A few weeks after your MVA, I was in one and had a calcaneal fracture. Rolled over twice. Thank heavens for seat beats or I would not be writing this. I had other injuries as well (wrecked knee, broken ribs, punctured lung…) but the foot was by far the worst.
My doc says with the calcaneal injury it takes 2 years before you fully know the permanent extent of the injury. Fortunately, I found a great support group online for people that fractured their calcaneus. It’s a great group that provides lots of first hand experiences and info. We have lots of medical journal studies and files on the site. You may want to post your question to the group or read some of the studies on the typical results. health.groups.yahoo.com/group/footinjuries

in feb of1997 I brole my fibula and was casted for 6 weeks. something was still wrong near the bottom of my andkle and after different ortopods and cortisone injections an MRI concluded I had a stress fx in my calcaneus, left foot. after 11 weeks of a cast, the last 7 weeks non weight bearing it quote healed but I have been in pain ever since. A few surguries and celebrex for 6 years and still in pain, 2 poiatrists want to fuse my 3 joints. the subtalor, calcaneal cuboid and nevicular joints. I’m too young and there are no guarantees. do you know of anyone who has had a similar procedure. Thanks
