Rib Fracture

(2 discussions)

I recently was told that an X-ray showed that I fractured my 5th right rib from coughing.
Pain is not that bad now, one week later.
However, I hear and feel lots of popping in that area.
Is this normal?
What is it? Thanks.

Popping is never normal. The popping is most likely the bones rubbing togeter as your moving. When are you feeling the popping? When your lifting, moving, turning? If you have fractured ribs you should NOT be lifting, pushing or pulling. If you know the movements that cause the popping stop doing the movements so the bones can heal properly. Good luck, Mya
