ruptured bicep

(4 discussions)

About a year ago, I ruptured my right bicep tendon at the elbow. I thought that I would regain all of my strength by now but I have not. I an experienced weight lifter and I work out religously. Will I ever regain all of my strength and mobility in that arm?

If you ruptured your bicep tendon that means you have lost the connection between the bone and muscle, therefore, the muscle cannot work properly in relations to bony movement. Did you not get it repaired?

i had a 70% rupture of my distal bicep tendon doing preacher curls. 10 days later I had the surgery. spent almost a week in a full hard-shell compression cast. Then moved on to a 90 degree half open splint. The first week was painful and swelling was aweful. Start PT Monday- Sleeping in almost non-existant with this splint. I have about 6 weeks more to go in this thing.

My advice—GO to an Ortho ASAP (Tomorrow) and get checked–see if they are willing to do the surgery–you might regain some % back, but if you waited a year too much scar tissure is probably taken place for surgey by now. Good luck–Surgery IS possible just usually not recommedede this far after the injury.

I was flipping a tractor tyre last Friday, POP! Left bicep elbow tendon snapped. The muscle has bunched up and I have a lot of bruising to my forearm and upper arm. Going to the hospital tomorrow to get some feedback. My own Dr has not got a clue……..Dorian Yates tore his but I’m sure he didn’t get his re-attached. It certainly didn’t look as if he did. Also Tom Platz. I need to know if it is necessary to have the surgery. I lift weights (not usually large tyres) but if I can get away without going under the knife I’ll take that option.
