Swollen infected toes

About 4 months ago my toes started swelling badly. It was mostly the middle toes but also the pinkie toe. They have gotten so swollen and purple at times that the nail would gap away from the toe and bleed and become infected. The swelling would move from one toe to another at random, but never the big toe. I have a history of hyperthyroid and take synthroid as replacement therapy. I went to a g.p. and was tested for diabetes. They told me I have diabetes type 2. Then they wanted a second test which was negative for diabetes. They had no idea about the toes other than a course of antibiotics which I did. I still have one infected toe. I called my endocrinologist & she said it did not seem related to thyroid. I am acting as though I am diabetic, cutting out sugars and all refined carbohydrates, but have a hard time walking with the toe pain. I am quite overweight. If I lie on my back & kick my feet in the air for awhile the toes get pinker. What does this sound like to you, and what shall I do? I have no insurance & am unable to afford a podiatrist at this time.
Thank you for your attention.

From your description, it sounds like you might have a circulation problem. Having said that, there are different types of circulation problems. I really do not feel comfortable giving you medical advice without an examination. I understand you are concerned about money. Perhaps there is a clinic or medical school that you can go to for further examination.Your problems could also be related to diabetes, thyroid, an autoimmune disorder, in addition to circulation problems. This is not the place for you to get a solution to your problem. You must be treated properly.
