Planter Fascia
(2 discussions)
I was diagnosed with planter’s 5 years ago. I have been using an orthopedic insert in my shoes, and also have had to use a “boot” on occasion when it is bad.
However, my foot has gotten so bad now that I am in constant pain. My ankle, foot movement, is limited, in that I can not move my foot from side to side. If I move my foot by hand, the ankle joint slips out and the pain is terrible. The upper part of my foot has begun to hurt, and I have constant leg cramps. I have a loss of energy / limited exercise due to my foot problem. What is the next step?

At this time I am not aware of any. I had heard that there were clinical trials being carried out, but I do not know anything else. About 25 years or so ago ankle implants were being used and they did not stand the test of time. The ankle is a very complex joint with motion in 3 planes and it is proving difficult to make an artificial joint.

Yes there are. Do a search in the internet. Ankle joint replacement prosthesis were approved in 1998 for Johnson & Johnson’s ankle joint.
