distol bicep tendon tear

(2 discussions)

Hi, I’m currently “recovering” from surgery for the above injury.
I suffered a complete tear while swinging a bat (playing softball). Although the surgeon didn’t say, I’m assuming that the injury occured because of a hyper-extension of the elbow (although the elbow joint never hurt afterwords).
I’ve been surfing the net for a good arm/elbow/sports brace to keep this from happening again as I’d like to resume playing ball next year.
My question to you is…… What should I be looking for?
I’ve seen everything from something that looks like a robots arm ($300), down to a much cheaper neoprene/velcro brace that sells for $70. Do you have one preferance over another? Also, what is the recidivism of this type of injury? Thanks!

Hi, bob, I have a ruptured muscle at the bicep probably just like you, the doctor said is a complete tear, the time now is about 2 month and I am woried about the time that it takes for the muscle to atrophy. I don’t know the answer but can you tell me how long it took before you fixed yours. I am hoping to find a doctor in the field of medicine that can do my surgery; but, have not yet found one. I need some help and also a time frame to repair the injury before it is too late. what can you tell me?
