Hi,
I have questions about a foot fracture. Is 8 weeks too long to recuperate for a shift of the 5th metatarsal on the foot? Does swelling of the foot mean don’t walk on it yet? I appreciate any feedback, thanks.
5th Metatarsal fracture (0) I fractured the fifth metatarsal in my right foot last week. I'm a runner and concerned as to how long it might take to get back to […]
I can’t comment specifically as I have not examined your foot or seen x-rays. I don’t quite know what you mean by a “shift.” If there is adequate bone callus and the fracture union is complete then weight bearing (cautiously at first) can be attempted. There is usually a period of swelling for a time since healing is always ongoing. You doctor who x-rayed you will know best what is right for you.
