Nerve damage in foot

(3 discussions)

In 1984 My husband’s right foot was ran over ny a cement truck, it ran up his ankle pinching the main nerve in his foot, He was told only god & time would help and it has not bothered him until last night 2/16/05.
It is painful and his heel is burning, he cannot walk – he has to drag his foot.
I’m hoping that there is something that can be done to help him now.
He was told before that they can cut the nerve out of his foot but that would leave him with a dead foot. Just hoping times have changed and there is some treatment out there

I have not heard about “cutting the nerve out of the foot.” I think the information you were given was faulty. I recommend he see a podiatrist, orthopedist or neurologist for evaluation and testing.

I worked for several years for a podiatrist in Houston Texas who delt specifically with nerve problems in the foot. You may view his website at http://www.parkerpodiatry.com. He is a wonderful skilled podiatric surgeon with speciality training from Johns Hopkins in this nerve damage in the foot. It is worth the shot. Kellie

When you go to his website click on “Nerve Conditions” and read through the different ones. Also the burning under his heel could be caused from an entraped calcaneal nerve, you should have that tested out as well. Dr. Parker has a machine that tests the nerves of the feet to check if they are trapped or not. Any question just email me
