ruptured achilles tendon
I am a 32 year old male.
Iruptured my achilles tendon playing flag football.
I workout with weights, play golf and/or run regularly, but rarely play any contact sports.
I have had several different opinions on my achilles.
I have a void of about 50-70%, but my strenght is very high and pain is minimal.
Would you recommend surgery or a more conservative approach.
Everything I read seems to point to surgery, but with no hard facts to support the push.
Rerupture rate is a bit higher with a conservartive approach, but not much.
Thanks for your help!

This is an ongoing debate. There is no right and no wrong answer. There are published studies that support both types of treatment. I suggest a MRI to see the extent of injury and healing.
