Work Injury – Torn Calf Muscle

An 8’shelving unit weighing about 300lbs. fell on me with the top of it smashing my calf muscle downward on June 28.
The first diagnosis was “badly bruised”.
I was swollen & black & blue from my knee to my heal & ankle. After 3 wks. I went back to work with restrictions & 6hour workdays, after 8 wks. & not much change, I saw an orthopedic – diagnosed as “torn gastro muscle”. No change in restrictions, & therapy. 8wks later, no change & bad knee pain. He said the visible horizontal groove will never go away, muscle still swollen, MRI showed a little fluid around the kneecap & swelling behind,he said would go away, work restricted to 4hrs./day & no pushing pulling or lifting over 10 lbs. (had been doing that all along)for 1 month.
It’s been 2 wks. now & not much change.
He said no damage to nerves, could it be something else?
It seems to me that such a traumatic injury could have done more damage than just to my muscle.
I’d appreciate any input you may have.
Thanks for your time.

I am unsure how I tore my calf muscle but that is what I was diagnosed with having at the ER. The bruise hasn’t healed although I have made a real effort to stay off my leg, have been walking with a cane, or driving, and elevating, icing and applying heat to it. Just how long am I looking at this being a problem for and what can I do to expedite the healing process? I am only 27 and was incredibly active up until this happened. Thanks.
