fractured fibula
Hi,
I have fractured my fibula and am going to get a plate and screws put in tomorrow 9-21-04.
I am very attive and really need to know if this is the best path for me. my doctor did a stress test on the foot and I “failed” because my tibula moved from its correct possition over to the side about 1 – 2 cm.
Is this the only test that the doctor should do to determine whether I need only a cast or plate and screws?
any help would be great. Thanks richard

I understand your concern, but unfortunately I can not see you or your x-rays. What your doctor is planning is a very common treatment for a fractured fibula. The purpose of this is to hold the bones in as good a position as possible so it can heal properly. I assume your doctor felt a cast would not suffice.
