Help my friend!
One of my friends from a running club has recently been diagnosed with shin splints, and is unable to do/play any sports. She is really upset, and I dont know how I can help her, because if we even talk about sport she gets upset. If anyone has been through this can they please reply, and tell me HOW TO HELP HER!?

I suffered from a three months of shin splints so I understand her frustration! My problems were finally resolved by getting a pair of othotic deviceds specially fitted for my shoes. It turned out that my flat feet were causing the problem all alone. So, I would definately recommend that your friend consider getting her feet checked out and making sure that her shoes are appropriate for her foot type.
As for now, if the problem is really bothering her she should probably go see a physical therapist. I had physical therapy for about a month and got ultrasound treatment on my shins afterwards, which provided me with some relief. Also, your friend should try ice massage, and lots of stretching.
Whew. I think that’s just about everything. I’m between classes taking finals right now so I don’t have much time. I hope that this offers you so insight as to what to tell her!
