Please help me with my weird shin condition

since i started running about 7 years ago, i have been battling what i thought to be regular shin splints. This year howvever, while being treated for another heel condition, my sport doctor notcied something odd about my leg x-rays. The front of my shin bones are swollen to about 5 times their usual size. They are incredibly painful, not only while running but while walking, jumping, or even sitting around. Over the last 2 running seasons they have gotten prgressively more and more painful and have graduated from a constant dull pain to a shooting, sharp pain which runs from my ankle to right below my knee. The fronts of my shins are “bumpy” and obviously swollen. The pain gets gradually less intense as i run, usually around the 2 or 3 mile mark, but retirns the second i stop. I have tried streaching, going on anti-inflammatories, icing, heating pads, everything i can think of. Please help, i can’t satnd this much longer!!!

I think you need to see a doctor about this soon. I think you might have a circulatory problem of some sort which impedes blood flow in your lower leg. The sports doc should check your Ankle to Brachial pressure Index and compartment pressures with and without pain. You might want your doctor with the Xrays to define “weird” a little better.

    Good luck,
