Scoliosis and DDD

What can I do to live with the pain of scoliosis and DDD in the lower lumbar region of my spine. I am scheduled for a steroid injection on 3-13-03 because I have been on many types of arthritis medicine but to no avail. I am aware that the injection will last for only a certain amount of time! I have had physical therapy and special exercises. Is there any chance that the arthritis pain would be less intense if I had a back brace? Sincerely, Linda McFarlin

Tight or popping sternum

(105 discussions)

I have had this looked at by my family Doctor and he said not to worry about it but I wanted a second opinion. I constantly have a tight feeling in my sternum it is definately bone or cartlige pain (doesn’t feel like it is internal). I used to be able to pull my shoulders back by bringing my shoulder blades together and it would actually pop like when you crack your neck or back. Is there anything that I can do about this or should I see a specialist? I work out regularly and I am cautious not to overextend during weight training.

Bulged Disc

(2 discussions)

Hello, I have a Bulged disc in my lower back and for the past 3-4 years I was told that I had Mechanical back. Only after an MRI was informed that it was a bulged disc. I’m in the Military and seems that everytime I try to have something done about it no listens. What I want to know is that if untreated for a prolonged period of time well this condition worsen and to what degree, is already to the point that hurts to put on my belt, can fell a lump in my lower back at the belt line. If I remmber correctly the location is LS1(i don’t know where that is). Anything you can tell me about this would help greatly.ThanksJames Timmons

intense pain in left ankle

I am experiencing intense pain in my left ankle and I wanted to know if there is anything I can do on my own to determine what is wrong with it as getting to a hospital/clinic would be quite a hassle. I cannot bear any weight on the ankle and have very limited rotation. I do not know if it is broken, but the pain is even greater than the last time I broke my ankle. if someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. I am a student and I am very active in sports. thank you.P.S. I rolled my ankle when playing basketball. (landed on the ball after a jump.)

Misdiagnosed?

(4 discussions)

I have been on the peripheral neuropathy train for almost a year now. I have no tests that reflect that my symptoms come from low B12….diabetes….cancer…skin biopsy negative. So…it’s idiopathic. Taking neurontin…horrible drug. I find that vicodin takes away the pain. Also…after skiing in tight boots it was much worse last night. I still think that it’s morton’s neuroma. But, the neurologist doesn’t buy it. Is there a definitive test I can have that can rule this out. It is in both feet, and palpatating by a podiatrist didn’t really show the distinctive clicking. But I do feel that there is tenderness and swelling in both of my feet.

Mid Back Pain

Male. 32 years of age.
Three weeks ago, after running (just over 4 miles) the right side of my mid back, just below the left edge of my shoulderblade, began to hurt badly. It’s a type of sharp ache that I can only describe as like a blasting headache in my back.
It’s now been over three weeks and the pain has not disapated in any way. Lying down or sitting in the right position alievates the pain completely.
It’s as if nothing is wrong.
However, when I stand or walk the pain starts almost immediatly and then within minutes reaches its peek.
It’s not the kind of pain that hinders movement or that makes me double over. Rather, like I mentioned before, it’s like a bad headache in my back.
I’ve now been to a chiropractor, 2 doctors, gone for massage (shiatsu) and physiotherapy with no results. X-rays were looked at by the chiropractor and nothing was founds.
I don’t know how to explain it any better than this. Agian it hasn’t gotten any better or worse in over 3 weeks now.
The only difference has been my tolerance to cope with it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
