Defeat the Heat In My Feet

Appropriate sock color to defeat summertime heat.My question is: Given that I have an outdoor job that can sometimes be physically demanding and hot enough to be able to wear shorts, but still requires wearing black athletic shoes, wouldn’t white socks offer the most heat relief to my old tired, hot, and itchy feet?
I sometimes also have to stand on black asphalt pavement for short periods of time. Our group has had a long standing policy of white sock useage until someone has decided that black socks should be used.

Subtalar Coalition

(2 discussions)

I am 39 yrs old. I am about 5’11, 245 lbs. I was diagnosed with Subtalar Coalition in my early teens. Since then, I have received more conservative treatments, but did not have the desired affects. Outside reasons kept me from seeking more aggressive treatments over the past twenty-plus years. I am wondering what type of aggressive treatment could be available to someone my age, what type of rehab would be involved and what may be the prognosis for a full recovery. I was told at the time of my last x-ray (about 3 yrs ago) that my coalition is very severe. It has dramatically reduced the range of motion in both of my feet. What has been your experience with severe cases. This condition has limited me in many activities I used to enjoy. I have even missed out on a lot of things in life because of my condition. This condition causes me an unbelieveable amount of pain. I suffer with pain on a daily basis. Some days are much worse than others depending on what I am involved in. If I neglected this condition and chose to live with it, how bad can this condition get? Would it completely inhibit my ability to walk in my senior years? I was contemplating seeking some disability from the government. This condition has also affected my decisions as to where to seek employment, based on what type of activities I would have to perform. I apologize for the lengthy message. This is my first time posting a message in a forum. I really appreciate any information you can give me. Thank you in advance.

toe joint pain

For over 2 months, I’ve had pain and soreness in the joint of the ball of my left foot.
In addition, I’m sure I also have a bone spur in the left heel.
I took Aleve for a week to relieve the pain, and it worked almost immediately on the pain in the joint, although not as well on the heel pain.
I’ve had to quit taking it as my stomach began hurting.
My question is: What else can I try?
I can’t take cortisone as I’m diabetic.

Sciatic Pain

I have just visited the chiropractor for the first time. I am experiencing pain and pins and needles down my leg and in my foot.
The staight ahead X-ray showed a slight curvature to the right along the L-4, L5 area. He assured me he could correct my pain within 3 weeks. Do you think I should go to another doctor and get an MRI before letting him manipulate my spine? After todays session I don’t feel any relief. When I questioned him about not being able to determine definetly the extent of the damage with a standard X-ray he became upset.

left sided pain

Two weeks ago, I had sharp stabbing pain in my left knee and the orthopedist said I had a torn meniscus that would require surgery. I have also had intermittent left hip pain over the past couple of years before this, but did not seek treatment as it was not severe.
The ortho ordered a lumbar MRI and it showed nothing but schmorls nodes in the inferior endplates of T12 and L1. He referred me to a spine specialist for work up before he would fix my knee. Yesterday I bent over to get a bag of flour off the bottom shelf in my kitchen and had electriclike shocks and pain in my left arm and neck followed by pins and needles pain. This morning I am experiencing a lot of burning pain in the left arm and neck in addition to my knee and hip pain. I am only 39 years old and have been previously healthy except for the intermittent left hip pain. I left a message with my ortho office for the doc yesterday and have received no reply. I am taking no medications except Advil at this time, and receiving no relief.
This is my first experience with severe pain and right now I feel helpless to help myself and I do not like feeling that way. Thank you for your time and input. Tania

fibrous cyst under third toe

For a few months, I have had a painful lump under the base of my third toe on my right foot.
A local podiatrist diagnosed it as a fibrous cyst (after X-ray and ultrasound imaging), and injected my toe with cortisone, prescribed an oral anti-inflammatory medication and has had me ice it for 20 minutes a day.
After a month, it is no better.
Any suggestions?

Bumps on the bottom of my feet

I have these lil bumps, they almost look like a pimple or a blister but they are under my skin on the bottom of my feet. I’ve never had them. I tried to pop one to see if it was a wart or something but it was kind of like a hard calus under the skin. what are they? I had one… now I have like 3 & they are really tender.
