Please name this KNEE injury !

Injured it while at Jiu-jitsu practice. My knee popped OUT. My legs were positioned sort of like the way you sit down and cross your legs (left ankle over right thigh). Now it’s hurting to the outside of my left knee, especially when I go up and down stairs. I can walk normally though, so it’s probably not that serious but it still hurts. Thanks

What do you mean by popped out? If it is the knee cap then I can understand why! The knee cap is a free floating bone that is supposed to run in a system like tram lines when you move bend or straighten the lower leg. Sometimes the knee cap will fall out of these tram lines & this will cause allsorts of problems that will cascade up or down the leg ( abit like a derailed train )If you have half of the system on the track, it will continue to work but there will be side effects ie pain. It will cause stress & disfunction which will need to be corrected by education to that area. Contact your local gym or sport therapist whom should be able to suggest exercises that will bring the knee cap back online by simply strengthen up either the inner or outer thigh muscles. Good Luck , Lulu
