Re: Broken Tibia and Fibia
I broke both bones on June 12th and had surgery on June 16th.
I got a metal plate and 7-8 screws.
I got my cast off this past Monday and the x-ray showed that there is still a break above the metal plate on the stabilizer bone and a gap between the bones.
The doctor didn’t seemed worry, but how can it heal if the bones are not even touching?
I am in a velcro boot now.
I am wondering if I should get another opinion.

I broke my Fibia 4/25/05 Ortho Dr. Wanted to do surgery. I declined as his speil was about how the Swiss Dr’s in 1950’s said have the hardware will make you heal so much faster. This Dr. in Oregon had his asst. cast me for 6 wks. As of my last appt. 7/22/05 my bone isn’t recalcifing itself. Yes, I had the walking boot told to use pain as my guide. Hey I’ve been married for 22 yrs. plus two teens. Did anybody forget I’m a woman and no I’m not a woman’s liber, just the opposite. I’m at the 3 month mark, time for a second opion? Hey broke the left Tibia & Fibula 13 yrs. ago The Ortho’s didn’t say put weight bearing pressure and pain as your guide as those darn boots back then hurt alot more,yeah you had to continue to use your cruches. Please help, advance thanks. Chris
