I recently started having a numb feeling over my back right beneath my shoulder blades and now my left shoulder blade has an occasional pain in it. This didn’t start until I got pregnant…is their any relation?
There sure could be a relation. As you get pregnant and begin to change the way your body carries the extra weight the shape of your lower spine begins to change. Your lumbar lordotic curve will increase and the effects of this can also effect other parts of the spine, like your neck (where the nerves that go to your shoulder and ark come from). A lot of women find that chiropractic during pregnancy can not only reduce low back strain but also decrease other problems.Another possibility that could be contributing is what is happening to your body’s ligaments. As you get closer to full gestation your ligaments will actually loosen, to prepare your pelvis for the trauma of birth. But the loosening of the ligaments can also have effects on other parts of your body. And don’t worry about X-rays during pregnancy. Chiropractors are fully trained to evaluate the spine without X-rays so your baby will not be effected.
