Swollen ankle

I went over on my ankle over a month ago. I was told that it was a spraine and that i was well on my way to recovery.
After 2-3 weeks rest my ankle was rarely painful but still swollen. I have since started training, my ankle isn’t usually painful, but is still swollen? i am concerned because surely the swelling should have gone/reduced by now?

    Prolonged swelling in ankle injuries is common because gravity is working against it’s removal for most parts of the day while we are standing or sitting. With time it will reduce, what you need to be doing now is ensuring you start with simple and easy (non painful)exercises and progressing as you gain strength and confidence.
