torn biceps

(3 discussions)

About 5 months ago I ripped my bicep muscle, it retracted to my shoulder and my ortho dr. said there was nothing he could do, and that I had to live with half a muscle. Rescently I heard of someone having bicep replacement surgury, is this possible? I’m 30 yrs. old and very active, can you help?

These generally require surgery very quickly after the injury, or the tendon basically shrivels. If you waited over 3 wks to have it looked at, it probably can not be fixed. Unless you are doing high level activites or heavy overhead lifting, it should not affect your function much.
